Wonton Wrapper Week: Fried Apple Dumplings

C – I love making apple dumplings with wonton wrappers.

Usually I make a healthier version. But, Jim wanted to go all out this time. I didn’t mind. Sometimes you have to go all out. Of course, in moderation. I can see why Jim wanted the fried version. The baked version might not have been as good with the coconut vanilla ice cream I make and keep on hand for him.

One thing I really like about using wonton wrappers is that I don’t have to fuss with the dough.

You may recognize the apple filling. It’s Jessica’s apple pie filling.

Of course, these wonton wrappers will never be the same as her pie crust. But, I just can’t wait an hour for the dough and then bake for another hour.

Sometimes a quick and easy dessert is all you need. I rather save the good stuff for special occasions anyway.

I love the filling, of course. It’s Jessica’s, so it’s really good. Since it is fried, be careful to let the filling cool down before taking a bite. It will hurt if you don’t.

Just like a regular pie, make sure to wait a few minutes to let everything settle before enjoying. Since the filling isn’t super sweet, I added powdered sugar over top. It’s perfect.
