and, why not. My grandfather was a pretty important guy there. Long ago and far away, in the 1920s, the West was just rediscovering China and the lure of ancient Chinese art. My grandfather helped satisfy the burning curiosity by acquiring some of the most important works in the Art Institute’s Asian art collection over a period of 30 years. Pretty cool.

As part of meeting with them about a proposed Charles Fabens Kelley video exhibition, I was treated to lunch in the Terrazzo Piano dining room, so-named in honor of the famous architect Renzo Piano who designed their new wing. Of course …
